Philip Stiekema

Philip is a short guy with a big energy, carrying himself with a toughness learned in Catholic school corridors.  With a huge creative, childlike, energy and an original thinker, he doesn't suffer fools gladly.....

1967 born Cape Town, South Africa

1985-1991 studied and graduated with B.Arch from the University of Wits with a distinction in Design and with numerous awards and awards of merit for distinctions in various courses over the degree course

1988-1989 worked the year out in London for Chamberlain, Powell, Bonn & Woods Architects on various housing projects in and around London

1989 worked for Ian Hossack Architects in Melville, Jo'burg

1992 design architect at Derick Henstra Architects, (now DHK Architects) on various historic restoration projects and commercial housing projects

1992-1993 founding member of “Cosmic Things” a start-up Product Design Studio focusing on bespoke furniture installations and the production of commercial architectural models

1993-1996 design and project architect at KCvR Architects, (Krynauw Chait van Rijswijk Architects, now DHK Architects), pioneering the first industrial use-to-residential use, ‘Loft Apartments’  in Cape Town, notably Dunkley Square and Victoria Junction

1996 founding member of Team Architects

1996-present director in Team Architects and leading various Retail, Domestic and Commercial projects nationally and internationally

2007 invited to join the Cape Institute for Architecture, (CIfA), as a member of their Practice Committee

2008 elected Convener of the Practice committee at CIfA and represented CIfA at national level at the SAIA Practice Committee

2008-2009 served as Vice President of the Cape Institute for Architecture

2009-2019 annual studio assistant, under Prof. Iain Low, for the 'Simulated Office' course in the 5th year of the B.Arch degree at the University of Cape Town, (UCT)

2013 studio assistant, under Kevin Fellingham, for the design course in the 2nd year of the BAS degree at the University of Cape Town, (UCT)

Antony Abate

Antony is the eternal boy, 15 going on 50. Solid as a rock, determined, anal about the quality of the design product and with tremendous ability in all fields that require delivery on his demands, and somehow he still manages to  pull it of gently......as is his way.

1985-1991 Studied at University of the Witwatersrand for the Degree of Bachelor of Architecture with various first class passes and awards of merit

1987-1988 Practical year of study  working at Koseff Maserow van der Walt Architects,  Johannesburg on commercial developments and refurbishments in the J’burg CBD and suburban residential developments

1989-1990 Student intern at Fassler Kamstra Holmes Architects,  Johannesburg on restoration & development of the J’burg City Hall & commercial, retail & residential developments

1990-1991 Student intern at Stauch Vorster Architects, Johannesburg on  commercial office developments & the Pretoria Zoo sundial project

1992-1995 Founded Terraplane Architects focusing on community & residential based projects: Polokong Children’s Home, Sebokeng, Coronationville Old Age Home, Sixth Road Clusters, Hyde Park, Residence Croock, Sandhurst, Twin houses, Orange Grove

1995-2000 Design architect & Associate at Alfio Torrisi Architects,  Johannesburg - Kloof Estates, Bedfordview, Monte San Panteon, Sicily, Italy, Integrated Community Centre, Brink’s Vlakfontein, Twin houses, Kilkenny Road, Parkview, The Pharmaceutical Society of Southern Africa – SAIA Award of Merit 1998

2000-2004 Design architect at Henry J Lyons and Partners Architects, Dublin, Ireland – Working on large commercial projects: Central Park, Sandyford Estate, Ballymun Town Centre, Riverside commercial & apartment development,  Mespil Road commercial development, 54-57 Lower Mount Street

2005 Returned to South Africa to join Team Architects as director

2012-2014  External examiner for 2nd year Design BAS Course at UCT to course convenor, Kevin Fellingham

present- Director at Team Architects - Involved in the design and realization of over 300 retail, domestic, and commercial projects, nationally and internationally

Joey Rudolph

Joey, an immensely generous soul, has been a stalwart in Team since 2004, he runs the interior retail teams and brings many years of shopfitting and manufacturing experience to the table, and always with a smile on his face

Faheem has been the backbone of production drawings at TA, consistently drawing lines, since 2004. 40 going on 14, this eternal youth is gadget and martial arts savvy and smiles his way through life
